John Woodhouse

The Rt Rev John Walker Woodhouse (28 January 1884 – 13 March 1955) was an Anglican Suffragan Bishop from 1945〔New Bishops Of Dunwich And Thetford The Times Friday, 22 Jun 1945; pg. 2; Issue 50175; col D〕 until 1953.〔(Resignation details )〕
He was born on 28 January 1884 and educated at Charterhouse“Who was Who” 1897-2007 London, A & C Black, 2007 ISBN 978-0-19-954087-7〕 and University College, Oxford before embarking on an ecclesiastical career with a curacy at St James, Milton, Portsmouth.〔(Church web site )〕 After service as a World War I chaplain he was then Vicar of St John’s, Waterloo Road, Lambeth〔(British History on-line )〕 and after that St George’s, Newcastle upon Tyne. From 1942 to 1945 he was Rural Dean of Huddersfield and finally Bishop of Thetford (also Archdeacon of Lynn from 1946 to 1953).
He died after a short retirement on 13 March 1955.
